Fixed: Internet Explorer 7 Problems

A few readers had reported problems with the blog using IE7. These problem should now be corrected. I am still redirecting IE6 and below to another theme template. If you are using IE6 or below please change to a different browser. Even Microsoft recommends that you should no longer use those versions.

If anyone is having issues. Please let me know. I will look into it and try to figure out what is wrong.

I have not tried the blog on mobile devices. So, I am not sure if it renders properly on IE mobile, iPhone, etc.

If anyone has an issue with these devices, please let me know. I will either fix the issue or have a template specifically for mobile devices.

Thanks

Admin: Changes and problems with blog

Hello Everyone!

I have been making some internal changes to the blog.  Hopefully, many of you will not notice them.

Click on the tabs below to learn more.

Old Browsers

Problems with old browsers.  The web has grown more complex over time.  This has caused the web protocols for programing websites to change.  Some browsers do not properly handle these protocols.  If your browser has been identified as one that does not work with this Blog, you will now be redirected to a simplified version of the blog.

I have received e-mails about IE 5.5 and 6.0.  All versions of Internet Explorer 6.0 and below need to be updated.  Microsoft has identified serious security flaws in this browser.  If you use this browser to visit this site, then you will be redirected to the simple site.

If this site doe not work for you, please let me know so I can tag your browser to redirect to the simple site.  The easiest way to tell is that the background changes to brown and you cannot read the blog posts easily.

Photo Albums

I have changed the photo albums to a new style.  The only album currently available is the Ireland Album.  Please check it out.  They take a lot more time for me to put together, but they give me better control over how the Albums look.

Comments

This is a reminder that comments are moderated.  This means that I read them before they appear on the web for others to see.  You can contact me from any blog posting by submitting a comment.  If you do not want me to post the comment, please say so in the message.

Thank you for following my blog.  Let me know if you have any questions, problems or concerns with any of the features of this blog.

Michael

The Future of this Blog

This is a quick update to let everyone know what the future holds for LifeAroundTheCollar.  I look forward to being able to communicate with all of you through this blog.  I hope that it will be informative and entertaining.  I have provided some general outlines of upcoming changes and events.

If you have any specific requests, please make them.  I am looking for an idea of what people would like to read.  So, if you have any ideas of topics or semi-regular “Features” you wold like, please send them in.

Blog Features

Blog features:

  • Galleries: I will be adding photo galleries.  These will replace the current facebook gallery that is on this blog.
  • Menus:  I will be adding menus to aid in navigation of the blog
  • Podcasts: I will most likely add audio podcasts.  I am not sure what focus these will take.  But, more than likely they will quick updates on what I am doing.
  • Video: I do not really have any plans to add video.  But, I will make sure that the capabilities for this are built into my theme.
  • Contact forms:  I am thinking of adding contact forms.  But, I am not sure about the usefulness of them.
  • Comments: Comments on the blog are currently moderated.  This means that I review them before they are publicly visible.  I am not sure if I will be changing this.  I like the fact that anyone can contact me through any post, regardless if it is a private message or not
  • Postings by e-mail:  I am thinking of adding a way for you to recieve new posts by e-mail.  This would be the entire post as a pdf file.  I have tried this in the past with mixed success.

Blogging

How my blogging will work when I am in Klosterneuburg:

I will not have internet access in my room.  I will compose posts offline and upload them when I am able to.  Please do not expect instant responses. I will most likely be checking my e-mail once a day, please keep that in mind.

The topics covered on this blog will be general and from my viewpoint.  I will not be blogging about the following things: Church politics in Austria, the state of the Austrian Church, negative stories about the Austrian Church, negative stories about the Leadership of the Austrian Church, etc. I hope you can see that I am not going to use this as a medium to attack the church or my superiors.  I will also not post comments that break these rules.  If you send them to me, that is fine.  I just want to keep this blog about my experiences.
